Department Introduction

The Department of Pediatric Surgery at The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University provides medical services for patients with all types of surgical diseases, ranging from the embryonic stage to 18 years of age. This includes various subspecialties such as pediatric general surgery, pediatric thoracic surgery, pediatric urology, and neonatal surgery. With advancements in technology and improved equipment conditions, minimally invasive surgical techniques—including the application of various endoscopic techniques (such as laparoscopy and thoracoscopy) and instruments—have been implemented in our pediatric surgery department. This has led to further development in our pediatric surgery specialty, resulting in improved diagnostic capabilities, better treatment outcomes, and even earlier intervention (in terms of age) for many diseases. As a result, more children and their families have benefited from the enhanced medical expertise of our hospital's pediatric department.
