The Department of Obstetrics at The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University was established in 1936. Over the decades, through the persistent pursuit and dedicated efforts of several generations and with the strong support of the hospital, it has become a comprehensive department integrating clinical practice, scientific research, and education. Equipped with advanced medical facilities and staffed by a team of renowned experts with exceptional medical skills, the department has earned high prestige both within the province and across the country. It serves as the Perinatal Medicine Research Center of Jilin Province, a training base for breastfeeding, the Diagnosis and Treatment Center for High-Risk Pregnancies in Jilin Province, the Critical Care Center for Pregnant Women in Jilin Province, the Prenatal Diagnosis Center of Jilin Province, and the Center for Fetal Protection Alliance of Jilin Province. It pioneered doula-assisted delivery in Jilin Province and is also a training base for infant massage therapists and infant swimming instructors in the province.

The department boasts an outstanding professional medical team with superb skills,高尚的医德, and extensive clinical experience. The team includes three national-level experts, five provincial-level experts, four chief physicians, and three associate chief physicians. The nursing team consists of 100 members, with 50 holding the position of head nurse or above. The department is responsible for obstetric medical services primarily in Jilin Province and extending to surrounding provinces and cities, as well as for consultations on complex and rare cases and the diagnosis and treatment of critical conditions. In recent years, it has successfully applied for several major research projects and published numerous papers.

The Department of Obstetrics at The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University is located in the Yatai campus and comprises seven sections: a delivery center, family-centered LDR (Labor, Delivery, and Recovery) rooms, three obstetric ward zones, an OICU (Obstetric Intensive Care Unit), a parent-child乐园, an obstetric outpatient clinic, and a prenatal diagnosis center. The new campus is rationally designed and fully functional. It has a total of 166 beds, including 138 standard beds, 14 LDR beds, and 14 beds in the obstetric监护室. The delivery center is integrated with operating rooms, enabling a "5-minute immediate cesarean section" to ensure zero-distance transition from vaginal delivery to cesarean section for high-risk pregnant women. The family-centered LDR rooms, adopting the latest delivery model from the United States, allow expectant mothers to enjoy a comfortable and joyful environment where they receive integrated services for labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery. A multidisciplinary team (MDT) consisting of obstetrics, anesthesiology, and neonatology professionals provides陪伴, while a professional midwifery team offers 24-hour integrated management. They assess delivery plans and provide professional non-pharmacological pain relief and doula-assisted delivery to promote natural childbirth. After birth, the baby does not need to leave the room, as a professional nursing team administers vaccinations, baths, and massages in the LDR room, ensuring 24-hour rooming-in for mothers and infants.

The obstetric outpatient clinic at the Yatai new campus offers both expert and general consultations. It actively operates specialized clinics for recurrent miscarriage and preterm birth, placental disorders, gestational hypertension, advanced maternal age pregnancies, pregnancy complications, twin pregnancies, prenatal nutrition and weight management, and cervical insufficiency and preterm birth, providing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment services for pregnant women. The outpatient clinic also hosts a孕妇学校, where the department's most skilled medical staff conduct health knowledge lectures every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, offering professional guidance for pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy, and postpartum care. The obstetric outpatient clinic is equipped with a母婴室 to facilitate breastfeeding for women. With standardized and reasonable signage, it provides "one-stop" prenatal检查 services. Additionally, it offers appointment services for outpatient 4D ultrasound scans, as well as extended services such as telephone follow-ups for abnormal ultrasound results, post-abortion care, and follow-ups for borderline and high-risk glucose screening tests, ensuring timely detection of pregnancy defects with a 100% follow-up rate. This allows for the early identification of abnormal pregnancies and ensures prompt feedback and management.

We will continue to enhance our medical service capabilities, play a leading role in the region, improve grassroots-level rescue and treatment capacities, and constantly explore new models for the treatment of critical conditions in pregnant women, childbirth, and infants.
