The Reproductive Medicine Center of The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University was established in November 2000, making it the first reproductive medicine center in Jilin Province primarily focused on providing assisted reproductive technology. Built upon the foundation of the province's key gynecological laboratory, the center possesses a solid technological base in embryo culture and molecular biology. It draws on over seventy years of diagnostic and treatment experience from the hospital's obstetrics and gynecology department while incorporating the technical and managerial strengths of major reproductive medicine centers across the country. The center diligently carries out conventional assisted reproductive technologies and actively explores cutting-edge sciences in the field of reproductive medicine. In May 2002, the center began using in vitro fertilization (IVF) technology to treat infertility, and in September of the same year, the first patient in the province to receive "test-tube baby" treatment successfully conceived. In April 2003, the province's first multifetal pregnancy reduction procedure was successfully performed, reducing a quadruplet pregnancy to twins. In June 2003, the province's first test-tube babies, a pair of twins (boy and girl), were born. In October 2004, the oldest menopausal woman in the province, aged 51, successfully conceived and gave birth to a healthy baby boy in August 2005. In June 2009, a patient with a unicornuate uterus deformity who received "test-tube baby" treatment conceived and successfully delivered a baby boy.

With warm, considerate, thorough, and patient-centered treatment and services, along with高尚的医德 and精湛的技术, the center has earned the trust of numerous infertility patients and recognition from peers nationwide. Patients come not only from within Jilin Province but also from surrounding provinces and all over the country. The reproductive center currently has 37 medical staff, including 2 national assisted reproductive experts, 7 with senior technical titles, 2 doctoral supervisors, 4 master's supervisors, 3 postdoctoral researchers, 12 with doctoral degrees, and 22 with master's degrees.
