The Department of Stomatology at The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University is located in Building No. 9 of the hospital. It currently provides diagnosis and treatment services in endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, prosthodontics, and orthodontics. The department has developed into a comprehensive unit integrating clinical services, scientific research, and medical education.
Each year, it undertakes the teaching of stomatology for five-year, seven-year, and eight-year medical programs, as well as full-English clinical medicine courses for international students at Jilin University. The department has published over 35 academic papers, including 5 SCI-indexed articles, and has undertaken more than 10 research projects supported by the China Postdoctoral Science Foundation and provincial-level grants. Research focuses primarily on the basic mechanisms of periodontal diseases and foundational and clinical studies in dental implant surgery. The department has been awarded the Second Prize of Jilin Provincial Scientific and Technological Achievement Award.
Annually, the department treats over 10,000 patients with various oral diseases. It is equipped with advanced imported devices including panoramic tomography machines, dental implant systems, dental comprehensive treatment units, nickel-titanium root canal expansion systems, ultrasonic root canal therapy devices, ultrasonic scalers, and polishing machines.
