The Department of Neurology at The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University is a national key discipline, one of the first standardized residency training bases in Jilin Province, and a key medical specialty during the 12th Five-Year Plan period of Changchun. Established in 1984, the department integrates medical care, teaching, and scientific research, with a focus on the diagnosis and treatment of common, frequently occurring, complex, and critical neurological diseases.
The department currently has 24 physicians, including 6 professors and chief physicians, 6 associate professors and deputy chief physicians, 9 attending physicians, and 3 resident physicians. Over 90% of the medical staff hold doctoral or master’s degrees, and many have overseas study or training experience. The department is also authorized to confer doctoral and master’s degrees, with 8 supervisors for master’s students.
The outpatient clinic includes general consultation rooms, specialized consultation rooms, and a neuroelectrophysiology examination room. The inpatient ward consists of two treatment areas with 99 beds. The annual outpatient volume is approximately 35,000 visits, with over 3,700 hospital admissions and 13,000 neuroelectrophysiological examinations per year.
