It is an experienced, highly patient-friendly, comprehensively capable, and innovative team.
Under the leadership of Professor Xu Jingwei, the breast specialty clinic was established in 2002, marking the beginning of specialized treatment for breast diseases in Jilin Province. We were among the first in China to initiate early breast cancer screening. The use of the color Doppler-guided Mammotome breast vacuum-assisted biopsy system has significantly increased the detection rate of early-stage breast cancer, enabling early diagnosis and treatment for breast cancer patients. The surgical procedures currently performed in the Department of Breast Surgery include:
Surgeries for various benign breast tumors:
Mammotome minimally invasive surgery
Traditional breast tumor resection (particularly for young unmarried or nulliparous women to reduce mammary duct damage and ensure postpartum breastfeeding conditions)
Subcutaneous glandular resection for multiple benign tumors + primary prosthesis implantation (reducing the pain of multiple surgeries due to tumor recurrence and ensuring breast aesthetics)
Breast segmental resection (mainly for intraductal lesions, i.e., patients with nipple discharge)
Surgeries for malignant breast tumors:
Simple mastectomy
Breast-conserving surgery
Modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer
Sentinel lymph node biopsy
Nipple-areola-sparing modified radical mastectomy + primary prosthesis implantation
Nipple-areola-sparing modified radical mastectomy + expander implantation
Modified radical mastectomy for breast cancer
Immediate transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flap breast reconstruction
Secondary latissimus dorsi flap breast reconstruction
Intraoperative radiotherapy for breast-conserving surgery
Internationally aligned implantable port placement, replacing traditional PICC catheterization, making it the implantable port training base for the three northeastern provinces.
Inflammatory breast diseases:
Lactational mastitis (treated with milk stasis exclusion methods to avoid surgical pain)
Non-lactational mastitis (abscess incision and drainage, small incisions to ensure aesthetics and reduce postoperative dressing change pain, large incisions for thorough debridement to reduce postoperative recurrence risk)
Our department aligns with the world's most advanced cancer treatment models and collaborates with multiple disciplines within our hospital, including Medical Oncology, Pathology, Radiotherapy, and Radiology, to form a Breast Cancer Collaborative Group (MDT). We have established a regular consultation system to provide systematic, individualized, and standardized comprehensive treatment for every breast cancer patient. This has significantly improved the survival rate of breast cancer patients. We have also established a postoperative follow-up system for breast cancer patients, regularly conducting telephone or letter follow-ups to address postoperative queries. Additionally, we have established a Kangle Salon Club for breast cancer patients, creating a platform for doctor-patient and patient-patient communication and support. This provides psychological and rehabilitation therapy for breast cancer patients, including regular psychological counseling, to ensure their maximum physical and psychological recovery.
