The Acupuncture and Moxibustion Department of The Second Norman Bethune Hospital of Jilin University is the only independent acupuncture department within the Norman Bethune Health Science Center of Jilin University. It serves as a council member unit (Vice President) of the China Northeast Acupuncture and Meridian Research Society and as a council member unit (Vice President) of the Jilin Provincial Acupuncture Society. Integrating medical treatment, teaching, and scientific research, the outpatient clinic comprises six consultation rooms.

For common and various complex diseases in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, orthopedics, ENT, dermatology, and other departments, the department employs traditional acupuncture, moxibustion, tuina (massage), and other therapeutic techniques. Notably, its technique of using few points, not retaining needles, and preserving needle sensation significantly shortens the rehabilitation process for patients with sequelae of stroke. The department excels in treating functional disorders, various functional movement impairments, and pain-related conditions.

It demonstrates remarkable efficacy in treating facial paralysis, facial spasm, joint pain, headache, trigeminal neuralgia, dizziness, insomnia, stomach disorders, hiccups, vomiting, cervical spondylosis, stiff neck, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, lumbar diseases, sciatica, disc protrusion, asthma, cough, constipation, enuresis, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, menopausal syndrome, herpes zoster, chronic eczema, chronic urticaria, neurodermatitis, various peripheral neuritis, tinnitus, hearing loss, rhinitis, childhood pseudomyopia, pediatric cerebral palsy, strabismus, amblyopia, hysteria, depression, acupuncture for weight loss, anti-aging, and more.

Over the past decade, the department has undertaken two national-level research projects and seven provincial-level research projects.
