In celebration of the 70th anniversary of Norman Bethune Medical School of Jilin University (formerly Norman Bethune Medical University), the Department of Respiratory Medicine at our hospital held an academic seminar on respiratory diseases in Jilin Province on September 8 in the multi-function hall on the 6th floor of the Xinmin Hotel.

To further strengthen international cooperation and align the diagnosis, treatment, and research level of respiratory medicine in our province with international standards, on September 10, Director Zhang Jie presided over a follow-up visit by Professor Peter Wark to our Department of Respiratory Medicine. Professor Wark toured the respiratory wards and participated in a case discussion on a patient with refractory asthma. Associate Professor Wang Ke presented the medical history, while Professor Ma Zhongsen delivered a keynote speech. Numerous physicians, including Liu Xiaoqiu, Liu Jing, and Ren Jin, actively engaged in exchanges and discussions with the Australian expert on the diagnosis and treatment of refractory asthma. Staff from other departments of our hospital also attended this case discussion, which was part of our hospital’s continuing education program.

This marks the second case discussion organized by the Department of Respiratory Medicine involving interaction with international experts. The department also plans to establish online consultations with foreign experts for complex cases in the near future. It is believed that these initiatives will lay a solid foundation for the comprehensive development and international integration of our hospital’s Department of Respiratory Medicine in terms of diagnostic and treatment technologies.
